Bimbadeen cattle are renowned Australia wide for their success in the Show ring and for their high growth rate performance and carcase quality.
Well proven in National Steer Trials and Carcase competitions. Bimbadeen Brangus steers have won Domestic, Korean Export and Japanese Export Carcase competitions in a combination of growth rate and carcase quality in trials throughout Australia. The Gippsland Field Days are Victoria's Premier Steer Trials. Unfortunately due to the current lack of feed, it has been decided not to run the Steer Trial this year. The event will be run in future years.

"Gippsland Field Days" Victoria's Premier Steer Trial 2003/2004. 44 steers from a remarkable 20 different beef breeds, including cross breeds, were represented in the "Light Domestic Trade Class" which was the light domestic market 210 - 270 weight range [HSCW]. Our two Brangus Steers had the highest live weight gain award with an average of 1.44kg per head per day off grass only over the six month trial period. The Brangus steers carcase and weight gain combined score placed them in 1st place overall. Robert Radford, Managing Director of "Radfords" Warragul, stated that "this year represents some of the best cattle in the 21 years of the trial. All cattle were judged under MSA ~ Meat Standards Australia protocol.
"Gippsland Field Days" Victoria's Premier Steer Trial 2002/2003. In the worst drought in 100 years our team of Brangus steers were the highest weight gainers in the heavy domestic market 270 - 310 weight range [HSCW]. 40 steers from 18 different beef breeds were represented in this class. The Bimbadeen steers averaged 1.30kg per head per day on grass only for the 230 day trial.
Gippsland Field Days" Victoria's Premier Steer Trial 2001/2002. Our team of 2 Brangus steers won the highest scoring team from all entries, winning the domestic trade combined weight gain and carcase quality award. The four steers averaged over 80 points under MSA Carcase grading, scoring maximum points for P8 Fat depth, Fat colour, Rib fat and PH score.
"Gippsland Field Days" Victoria's Premier Steer Trial 2000/2001. The two Bimbadeen Brangus steers dominated the Japanese Export section of the six month long steer trial. The Brangus won the weight gain, carcase quality, live meat yield, combined weight gain and carcase quality and overall highest scoring team with 226.7 points. Another Bimbadeen Brangus earned the highest individual meat yield of 69.7 per cent in the Domestic Market section.
"Gippsland Field Days" Victoria's Premier Steer Trial 1999/2000. The two Bimbadeen Brangus steers meeting all the carcase specifications won the highest weight gain award averaging 1.24 kilograms per head per day. 56 cattle representing 17 breeds and their crosses were entered.
"Gippsland Field Days" Victoria's Premier Steer Trial. 1998/99 The two Bimbadeen Brangus steers won the highest carcase score award. They scored 90 and 85 points with a saleable meat yield of 70.7% and 70.5%. 70 cattle representing 20 breeds and their crosses were entered.
National Livestock Feedback Trial 1995/96 (Domestic & Japanese Export Markets) Bimbadeen delivered 8 Brangus steers to Warragul for this trial. Our calves were weaned as young as 3 1/2 months to meet the strict entry weight criteria. Our two teams of steers averaged 1.17 and 1.03kg per day off grass to the end of May 1995. The results were announced February 1996 with 5th place overall for Domestic Market and 2nd for Market suitability with one steer scoring 400 out of 400. One hundred and four different steers representing 18 breed types and cross breeds were in this section.
In the Japanese Export Grainfed section of the AUSMEAT NATIONAL LIVESTOCK FEEDBACK TRIAL 1996 our team of four Brangus steers were placed 1st for individual and 1st team overall for weight gain. Our best steer gained 2.37 kg per day (NLFT I/D 174), weighed 734 kg @ 19 months (milk teeth) with an EMA of 97 sq cm.
1995/96 Gippsland Trial. Our two steers in the Japanese export class have averaged 1.55kgs per day weight gain off grass only during one of the coldest and wettest winters on record. Our two Brangus steers killed in November 95 for the Domestic Market were the highest scoring team of two steers from forty eight steers entered, averaging 86 points for carcase quality.
AUSMEAT National Livestock Feedback Trial Japanese Grainfed Market 1994 Bimbadeen entered a team of three Brangus and one Super Baldie. All attained maximum optimal 50/50 points for carcase weight gaining up to 1.99kg per day liveweight and yielding up to 72.33% saleable meat. They obtained maximum optimal points for teeth, milk to 2 teeth - 50/50, Fat color - 70/70, texture and firmness - 40/40 and were all scored "B" muscle score. The team placed 15th overall with 806.3 points only 36.2 points behind the winning team.
1993/94 BALLARAT STEER TRIAL COMPETITION. The team of three Bimbadeen Brangus steers were awarded the highest carcase score of all the teams in the competition representing steers for the Domestic, Restaurant and Japanese Export markets. A total of 81 steers from 9 different breeds were in the competition. This is the third year in a row that Bimbadeen Brangus has scored the highest team carcase points at Ballarat. These steers were also placed first in the "Increase in Value" section, gaining an average 96 % increase which represents $264.68 per steer.
1993/94 GIPPSLAND FIELD DAYS STEER PRODUCTIVITY AND CARCASE TRIAL. A Bimbadeen Brangus steer was the highest individual scoring carcase from the total of 72 steers, representing 18 different breeds. This steer was entered in the Japanese Export class. This steer scored 89 points and was awarded an extra 8 bonus points for carcase weight and age.
AUSMEAT National Livestock Feedback Trial Japanese Grainfed and Grassfed Market 1993/94 There were forty teams of steers entered in each section of this trial. This trial is a first in Australia and monitors feed intake from each group of steers. Growth promotants are allowed to be used on request but we nominated that no growth promotants be used. Our Brangus steers in the Grass fed section scored an average 823.25 out of 1000
AUS MEAT NATIONAL LIVESTOCK FEEDBACK TRIAL. 1992/93 Oakleigh Feedlot. Trial results Blayney Abattoir 24th April 1993. Our team of Brangus steers were placed second overall for market suitability. They averaged 294.60 points out of a possible 300 with one steer scoring 299.20 The four steers all met the strict weight and fat specifications and all scored maximum points for Meat Colour, Fat Colour, Texture/Firmness, and Marbling. There were a total of 160 steers entered Australia wide in this trial. 1ST place for individual and team was obtained in the Inaugural Best Hide Competition with the highest scoring four hides coming from our Brangus.
1993 NATIONAL LIVESTOCK FEEDBACK TRIAL JAPANESE GRASSFED MARKET. Two of our Brangus steers had the highest Marbling scores from 160 steers.
1992 NATIONAL LIVESTOCK FEEDBACK TRIAL JAPANESE GRAINFED MARKET. IST,2ND & 3RD for Marbling from 143 carcases. 2ND & 3RD Highest weight gain teams with our two teams averaging over 2kg per head per day.
1991 NATIONAL LIVESTOCK FEEDBACK TRIAL JAPANESE GRASSFED MARKET. BERRIGURRA STATION EMERALD QUEENSLAND. Four Bimbadeen Brangus steers averaged a yield of 72.67% of saleable meat.
1990 NATIONAL LIVESTOCK FEEDBACK TRIAL JAPANESE GRASSFED MARKET. THEODORE QUEENSLAND. A Bimbadeen Brangus steer had the highest individual carcase for percentage yield of saleable meat of 75.3% combined with 47.52% primal cuts from the one hundred and sixty steers from twenty different breeds.

Our Brangus steers had the highest boneout score combined with the greatest percentage yield of Primal cuts from the one hundred and twenty steers. 1991 Royal Melbourne Show our four highest scoring carcases were Domestic 89.1.Heavy Vealer 86.7.Korean Export 86.7. Japanese Export 81.5.
